CTET September 2026 – Paper Details

CTET consists of two papers:
Paper I
Paper I is for candidates who intend to become teachers for Classes I to V (Primary Stage).
Paper II
Paper II is for candidates who intend to become teachers for Classes VI to VIII (Elementary Stage).
Candidates who want eligibility for both levels can appear for both Paper I and Paper II, subject to the prescribed eligibility conditions.

CTET September 2026 Eligibility

The eligibility requirements depend on the paper selected and the candidate's teacher-education qualification.
Paper I – Classes I to V
Candidates must satisfy the prescribed educational qualification involving Senior Secondary (12th) and the required teacher education qualification, such as D.El.Ed, B.El.Ed or another qualification recognized under the applicable rules.
Paper II – Classes VI to VIII
Candidates generally require a Bachelor's Degree along with the prescribed teacher education qualification such as B.Ed, D.El.Ed or another recognized qualification, depending on the applicable eligibility category.
Candidates should check the official CTET Information Bulletin for the exact qualification applicable to their particular course and category.
CBSE also clarifies that merely being allowed to appear in CTET does not mean that the candidate's eligibility has been finally verified. Final eligibility is verified by the concerned recruiting/appointing authority.

Age Limit

There is no prescribed upper age limit for appearing in CTET.
However, candidates must fulfill the educational and professional qualification requirements prescribed for the relevant paper.

The CTET application fee depends on the category and whether the candidate applies for one paper or both papers.
